5 stars. I've been dealing with a persistent red rash on my chest for a while now and this tallow balm has been a lifesaver. It took about 4 weeks to see the full result, so you have to be patient, but the difference is night and day. My skin feels much healthier and the redness is completely gone. If you have sensitive skin or a rash that won't budge, definitely give this a try.
A friend recommended Alben tallow cream when discussing the problems in managing eczema. I had been using a Tallow cream from another company, but found it quite thick to apply and my wife joked that i smelt like a roast beef dinner! However, Alben tallow is amazing for several reasons. Its texture makes it light and easy to apply, I have a short beard which other creams get clogged up in, but this stuff is absorbed quickly on face, beard and neck. Also the product that is left on your hands is quickly absorbed (other one used left a greasy residue that needed washing off). It also smells amazing, I love it and my wife thinks it's great! I've tried many skin care products over the years due to having sensitive/ dry skin. But most either leave a greasy residue or, with some other tallow products, have a slightly unpleasant scent. A friend recommended this to me and I've been extremely happy with the results. It has a silky smooth feel and is easily applied. The aromas are very pleasant and it feels light on my skin. I have been using Alben for a few days now. I don't have skin conditions as such, but my aging skin is very dry and in some places quite flaky. This tallow is making such a difference, my skin is so much smoother and the flakiness and itch of those patches already almost gone. Only a tiny amount is needed, a little really goes a long way. I use it morning and night on my face and neck and any dry areas. Any residue left on my hands is massaged in as a hand cream and feels lovely. As a bonus the scent is very pleasant.
Can not recommend this product enough. Unlike many other products on the market using tallow this one smells divine due to the use of essential oils. I love the fact it uses all natural ingredients . A little product goes a long way and after the very fist use my skin felt really hydrated and smooth and not oily as other products have left my skin feeling. I have also started using it on my little one who gets ezcema and already a noticeable difference. Exellent product with prompt delivery.
What is real tallow?
Tallow is the original skincare super-ingredient. Before the industry shifted to petroleum and water-based fillers, tallow was the gold standard for skin protection.
At Alben, we don't just use any fat. We only use purified kidney suet (Adeps Bovis). We render this nutrient-dense hard fat slowly to remove impurities while preserving its bio-active nutrients. The result is a stable, golden lipid that we whip with cold-pressed botanical oils like Jojoba and Rosehip to create a rich, absorbable balm that feeds the skin rather than just coating it.
Crucially, not all tallow is created equal. Because there is no legal requirement for 'tallow' to be pure kidney suet, many mass-market brands rely on general off-cuts or untraceable imports to cut costs. We refuse to compromise. At Alben, every jar begins with traceable, nutrient-rich suet from British grass-fed cattle.
Tallow vs. conventional moisturisers
Most commercial lotions are 70–80% water. Because water breeds bacteria, these products require chemical preservatives (like parabens or phenoxyethanol) to sit on a shelf. Because oil and water don't mix, they require emulsifiers to hold together.

Why suet quality matters for skincare
In nature, toxins are often stored in an animal's fat cells. This is why "commodity tallow" from factory-farmed cattle is not good enough for your face.
We source our suet exclusively from 100% Pasture raised British cattle raised on Organic land. Cattle raised on fresh pasture produce fat that is:
- Free from the stored hormones, antibiotics & pesticides found in grain-fed cattle.
- Higher in Omega-3s, CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid), and fat-soluble Vitamins A, D, E, and K.
Managing Compromised Skin Naturally
Chronic dryness and irritation are often caused by a compromised "skin barrier"—the protective wall that keeps moisture in and irritants out. When this barrier is broken, water escapes (Trans-Epidermal Water Loss) and skin becomes inflamed.

The molecular structure of beef tallow (approx. 50% saturated fat, consisting of stearic and oleic acids) is virtually identical to human sebum—the oils your skin naturally produces.
